Because all stations should be conquerable in 0.0, period.
I will admit that most stations in 0.0 should be conquerable, however I think we actually need NPC owned stations, just not as numerious as they are right now.
The Pirates and 0.0 dwelling NPC nations need somewhere in space to call home. But Quafe inc, and Chem tech don't need to own any 0.0 real estate.
The other reason why there should be some unconquerables is so that soloers, and pirates, and other unattached types some place where they can dock, keeping 0.0 dangerous due to their presence.
Firstly, I agree with the analysis of the original poster for the most. Altho there are some issues that need taken care of, she is mostly right in teling us control of the stations is what is important in 0.0 now and in future.
NPC stations prevent territorial control anywhere within their vicinity. It's that simple.
Since 0.0 will always rest on player actions, not NPC mechanics, the ability to secure space is very important.
So, indeed, either the regions with NPC stations are turned into NPC sovereign space and reduced to trade hubs in 0.0, with the actual terrotorial control taking place in the regions without them. Or the NPC stations are changed into some for that allows for access control.
Secondly, for an alliance to allow industrial trade to go on control over that trade is most important. That is where the original poster's ideas fail. For instance, you cannot control who buy in even a conquerable stations anymore due to the deliveries window becoming accessible from outside the station. Also, how do you control the industrial corporations ? What stops them selling to alts or with alts, what stops them using escrow instead of the market to sell to people you don't want them to ?
IF selling could be limited by standing, and access to the market could be controlled (market fee by standing), then there's a possibility of trade agreements using the open markets in 0.0. As it is, NPC stations and the uncotrollable access to services prevent something like that to take place other then through prior arrangement, and that already happens alot, just behind the scenes. _______________________________________________
